University of Alabama football player Brandon Deaderick was shot during an apparent robbery attempt at an apartment complex in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on the evening of August 31, 2009.
According to reports, the 22-year-old Deaderick was shot in the forearm as he and an unidentified woman sat in a car outside the Rivermont Apartments on Rice Mine Road. Deaderick—a defensive end for the Alabama Crimson Tide— was taken to a local hospital for treatment; a spokesperson said he was in "good" condition.
